Thanks for Giving

November 12 through 23

To recognize the generosity of our blood donors this Thanksgiving season, Central Blood Bank will make a $3 financial contribution of behalf of every participating donor to 412 Food Rescue.

412 Food Rescue is a Pittsburgh-based organization that believes good food belongs to people, not landfills. While 1 in 7 people goes hungry, 40% of our food goes to waste. 412 Food Rescue’s mission is to prevent viable food from entering the waste stream by partnering with food retailers (grocery stores, food distributors, restaurants, farms, etc.) and a growing network of #FoodRescueHeroes (volunteers) to rescue surplus food and redirect it to nonprofits that serve those who are food insecure.

Monetary donations will be used to support the core food recovery operations at 412 Food Rescue.

The Thanks for Giving donation will be made on behalf of participating donors who visit any of our community donor centers or mobile drives from Nov. 12 through Nov. 23.

Schedule your appointment today by calling 1-866-366-6771, register online, or download the free Central Blood Bank Donor Mobile App by visiting the Apple App Store  or Google Play store.
