Each year, Central Blood Bank recognizes the Top 20 groups that donate the most units to our community blood program. On average, these donor groups account for almost 20 percent of the total units collected at Central Blood Bank. We recognize these Top 20 donor groups for their organizations’ outstanding support, and dedication to, our Mission, which is to engage our blood donor community, advance transfusion science, and touch more patients with our clinical expertise. We greatly appreciate the time and commitment of these generous donor groups.
In lieu of our annual recognition luncheon, a donation has been made to the Sickle Cell Society, Inc. Sickle Cell disease is a serious, inherited disease, in which complications many times require blood transfusions. Because of the connection between blood donations and treatment for Sickle Cell disease, Central Blood Bank chose this charity as a way to honor and show our appreciation to our Top 20 Donor Groups.
