Up to 12 lives saved !
Everyone who donates whole blood with Central Blood Bank can save up to three lives with just one donation. How is this possible? Each unit of whole blood is separated into three components - plasma, platelets, and red blood cells - and each of these components can help save the life of an area patient in need of transfusions.
-
Personalized Brighten Life donor ID card
Central Blood Bank donors receive a personalized Brighten Life donor ID card after their first donation post-October 1, 2007. Your donor ID card provides you with your unique donor identification number and your blood type. We encourage you to use this card each time you donate.

Access to My Personal Donation History
My Personal Donation History is a secure, online service that Central Blood Bank offers to help donors keep track of general donation information. This information includes blood type, donation history, donor profile, and donation eligibility. It's also a way for the donors to access their Brighten Life benefits, such as the Online Store.

Online scheduling for both mobile and community donor center donors
Central Blood Bank donors have access to improved online capabilities, including real-time online scheduling for our community donor centers and mobile blood drives. Donors have access to more donation opportunities so they can choose the donation day and time that they prefer. Donors will also receive e-mail scheduling confirmations and appointment reminders.

Wellness results for temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and hemoglobin
As part of the eligibility requirements for donating blood, donors undergo a wellness check. This wellness check includes:
Temperature - An elevated temperature may indicate your body is fighting an infection.
Blood pressure - Early detection of high blood pressure may reduce your risk of heart disease.
Pulse - An irregular pulse rate may increase your risk of stroke. Early detection may reduce that risk.
Hemoglobin - Insufficient hemoglobin caused by a lack of iron may temporarily defer you from donating and may lead to anemia, a condition in which there is an inadequate delivery of oxygen to the tissues.
Hemoglobin Screening - Screening test which indicates that your iron level is sufficient enough to donate blood.
-
Wellness tracking for cholesterol test results
Once the Bright level is reached, donors can track their cholesterol test results through My Personal Donation History. These test results are available online 72 hours after each donation and provide a means to monitor cholesterol on an ongoing basis.
-
Opportunity to participate in Holiday Hugs program
Donors at the Brightest level are given the opportunity to write a message on a tag that will be attached to a stuffed animal. The animals, complete with message, will be given to children in local hospitals.
-

in a calendar year is the Brightest level.
