Up to 12 lives saved !
Everyone who donates whole blood with Central Blood Bank can save up to three
lives with just one donation. How is this possible? Each whole blood donation is
separated into three components - plasma, platelets, and red blood cells - and
each of these components can help save the life of an area patient in need of
transfusions. So by joining the Brighten Life program and donating
every quarter, you can save up to 12 lives every year!
-
Personalized Brighten Life donor ID card
Central Blood Bank donors receive a personalized Brighten Life donor ID card the first time they donate after the program launch. Current
GOLD Club members will receive their personalized Brighten Life donor ID card a few weeks prior to program launch. Your donor ID card will provide information to our staff on your blood type and donor identification number
every time you Brighten Life. We encourage you to use this card each time you donate.

Wellness results for temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and hemoglobin
Not only do you help others by donating blood, you also help yourself when you present to donate! You undergo a wellness check as part of the eligibility requirements for donating. The wellness check includes:
Temperature - An elevated temperature may indicate your body is fighting an infection.
Blood pressure - Early detection of high blood pressure may reduce your risk of heart disease.
Pulse - An irregular pulse rate may increase your risk of stroke. Early detection may reduce that risk.
Hemoglobin - Insufficient hemoglobin caused by a lack of iron may temporarily defer you from donating and may lead to anemia, a condition in which there is an inadequate delivery of oxygen to the tissues.
Hemoglobin Screening - Screening test which indicates that your iron level is sufficient enough to donate blood.
-
Wellness tracking for cholesterol test results
Once you become a Brighten Life program member and reach Bright status you can track your cholesterol test results through My Personal Donation History. These test results are available 72 hours after each donation and provide a means for you to monitor your cholesterol on an ongoing basis.
