Why: Central Blood Bank is the region’s largest blood center that supplies blood and blood products to more than 40 area hospitals, including Washington Hospital. More than 200,000 units of whole blood are needed annually to meet the demands of area patients. Local blood donors account for approximately 160,000 units of blood a year.

Although appointments are preferred, walk-ins are always welcome!

Donor Criteria
Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with signed parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in generally good health. Proper ID is required to donate blood.  A Central Blood Bank or military ID, driver’s license, or employee badge with picture and full name are all approved forms of ID.
