| Pittsburgh, PA (10/20/2009) - What: The Pittsburgh Pirates Continue Successful Blood Drive Series with October Event After five tremendously successful blood drive events already this year, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Central Blood Bank have announced an October blood drive at PNC Park. Up to 1,600 lives have been saved thanks to the efforts of the Pirates and volunteer blood donors. At the drive in August alone, 183 units were donated by loyal Pirates fans. Together, Central Blood Bank and the Pirates are hoping the upcoming October drive will yield similar success. From noon – 3:00 pm 1979 World Series Champion Grant Jackson will be signing autographs and memorabilia for blood donors. All individuals who present to donate blood at this drive will receive one Pirates promotional item, courtesy of the Pirates.
