We understand that the US Industry Consensus Standard for blood labeling will be revised. When will the revision be available?

An updated version is in progress and its status can currently be viewed in the What's New section of the Web site). Changes involve placement of the US license number, clarification of the labeling of directed donations suitable for crossover, adding designated and dedicated to the 'Directed Donation for Intended Recipient Only/ Biohazardous' category; adding an emergency release label; clarifying the labeling of Recovered Plasma; permitting the use of flag characters; and allowing the use of bar codes for red cell antigen and HLA typing. This version has been submitted to the FDA for review. Actual date of acceptance will depend upon this review process.
